Parkwood Outdoors Boot Camps

What a great weekend we had! It's just a pity that I cant say the same about the weather...!

Last month saw the start of our Fit Camps, our own unique take on the boot camp and I'm delighted to report that everyone had a great time and the feedback received from the course was extremely positive. Given the weather hadn't quite lived up to expectations we decided to be very nice and upgrade everyone's accommodation when they arrived.  Our 4 star self catering cottage went down a treat, comfy living and beautiful views awaited everyone.

Once settled in, our customers were introduced to our fitness coordinator and instructors and we got straight to it. The first night is all about 1-2-1 assessment and light exercise. During the consultation everyone handed in their completed diet & activity diaries and we then recorded data from a body composition analysis, had a chat about their current lifestyle and fitness levels and confidentially addressed any questions they had about the camp. Dinner was a lovely chance to sit and chat sociably with everyone - and the food was great!

On day two, Pete and Chris, our enthusiastic trainers, woke the team early and took the group on a run round the reservoir. The team split into two different groups to allow for different paces but then met back together for a hearty breakfast of grilled bacon, eggs, granola, yogurt and fruit. Delicious!

Gorge walking was the name of the game after food. We set off in our new buses over to the Glyn Neaf Valley. We rapped up warm in brand new wet-suits, jackets and Buoyancy aids with helmets to complete the look. Gorge walking involves walking up the Sychryd River, doing boulder hopping, swimming through shoots, climbing up waterfalls and jumping up rocks. The team were a bit nervous to start but were shinning with exhilaration and a sense of achievement on completion.

Back at the ranch after a shower it was straight into a workout session delivered by our very own Personal Trainer Chris before a well earned relax time. The evening meal brought wide smiles all round (Chicken fajitas, cous cous and other culinary delights 'wetted' our appetites)

After dinner we had one more surprise consisting of a stretch down session and further consultations. The feedback at this stage was again positive and everyone reported that they had enjoyed the workout despite feeling sore.

"Such a great day, looking forward to tomorrow now!"

Once again, the last day saw us waking up early to Pete's wilderness fit session. Gloves were on for this, lifting tyres, doing squats and running through our very own forest were just a few of the activities show cased.

Our customers were happy to settle down to breakfast after their workout!

The final activity had to deviate slightly from what we originally had planned due to the Welsh weather but nature cannot stop us from putting our customers through their paces; We put the Stand up Paddle boards away and got out the White water rafts instead! A windy but exhilarating paddle on the reservoir helped us to really work up a sweat and a few of the braver customers who ventured into the water really tested themselves and helped to push past their comfort zones.

It was sad having to say goodbye but Lunch was beautiful and everyone left after a consultation and having received a certificate and keen to return again soon. Thanks to all of those who took part and made it such a success!
