Re-opening of Rufford Country Park

In response to the Covid-19 situation and further to the Government announcement on 10th May, the park and car parks only will reopen on Saturday 16 May 2020 at 10am - 4pm with some restrictions and precautions in place. No other facilities are open at this time including the toilets, playground and catering outlets. Parking will be free for the next 5 days and will be reviewed thereafter.

We have put the following in place for users of Rufford Country Park, so that we can continue to serve our community in the best possible way whilst respecting the guidelines and minimising the spread of the virus.

This is subject to change according to the government’s advice.

  • Staff will be following strict handwashing guidelines

  • We are asking that people do not come to Rufford Country Park if you or anyone you live with or have had close contact with has shown any symptoms in the last 14 days (cough, fever, flu-like symptoms).

  • We are asking visitors to take responsibility for your own actions and anyone within your group attending the park. This includes social distancing within car parking areas.

The following park etiquette should be adhered to in order to help control the virus and allow us to open safely:

  • Please be considerate when using the car parks to other users and follow the directions given by staff where applicable.

  • Please ensure you adhere to all social distancing guidelines.

  • Please also use bins where provided in the park or take home your litter with you to help us maintain the park's cleanliness, if you do see plastic bottles & other litter discarded, please help us by disposing of these in bins, to help reduce the impact on the park's wildlife.

  • Please ensure all dogs are kept on leads.

  • No BBQs are permitted on site at any time - anyone found using one will be asked to leave the park.

  • The playground is currently closed - please do not access this area.

  • The toilets are currently closed  - this is under review in Phase 2 of reopening.

Please follow our social media page, and website for changes and updates as these may happen with short notice. We are currently reviewing opening other facilities in phase 2 which will include toilets and a take away catering service, these are not included in Phase 1 due to preparation for reopening, details will be confirmed in due course.

Phase Two - Car Park charges, and Takeaway

Further to the reopening of Rufford Country Park, we would like to thank all the visitors who have attended the park and maintained the social distancing and safety measures put in place. After reviewing feedback we are now in a position to commence with phase two of the parks reopening. This includes updates to how we operate the car park, the Coach House cafe and changes to how you can pay.

Car parking charges will recommence from Saturday 23 May. The car parking cost is £4 which greatly assists us with the day to day running costs of the park. Car parking is payable by card only at the Coach House cafe which is located in the courtyard. To assist our staff please have your receipt ready for checking as you exit the park. We have made these changes to avoid people congregating in the areas around parking machines or needing to handle cash.

Regular customers do still have the option to save time and money by purchasing an online annual car park pass by clicking here. Any customers who have purchased an annual car park pass during the park’s closure, please speak to a member of staff next time you visit the park to arrange collection. Car park passes will simply be extended for the same amount of the time the park was closed so our customers don’t lose out.

Other car park payment options are being considered and we’ll be monitoring how we need to adapt these going forward whilst maintaining the safety of staff and customers at all times. At present no overflow car park areas will be available and capacities will be closely monitored. We will update our social media channels and the website with any updates when required so please keep checking back to ensure you have the most up to date information.

We will also be opening the Coach House cafe for a reduced takeaway offering of hot and cold drinks and light refreshments only. The Coach House will be operating with a one way system so please follow all signs and instructions to ensure you maintain social distancing at all times. We will only be offering card payments at this time.

As per previous posts please note that due to many of our wonderful staff being furloughed we are not able to respond to each individual comment or question at this time on Facebook. Please also note the phones are not manned so we are unable to answer any calls at present.

Thank you as always for your patience, understanding and support during this difficult and unprecedented time.
